Our model is designed to support families while also supporting the doulas who serve them—creating a balanced, professional environment where care and structure can coexist.

We are a good fit for doulas who are:

How It Works

Clients refererred through Motherland and are matched with doulas based on availability, location, and fit. Doulas may accept or decline assignments, and once accepted, provide care within the Motherland model.

Compensation, backup support, and expectations are clearly outlined and communicated upfront. Compensation is structured and competitive, with clear payment timelines and defined scope of care.

Motherland is also committed to expanding access to care through the Motherland Birth Equity Program—ensuring more families, particularly women of color, have access to supported birth experiences.

Mentorship & Support

Motherland encourages a collaborative environment where doulas can learn from one another, share experiences, and offer support when needed.

This may include informal mentorship, peer connection, and opportunities to reflect and

grow within the realm of birth work.
